What colist is, in one paragraph
Colist is a web and mobile app that sits in the gap between “I asked an AI to plan this” and “I actually did it.” You describe a goal in plain language. The AI asks the smallest useful clarifying question, drafts a short structured plan, and — after you approve it — turns the plan into a queue of tasks. Each task opens in a focused reader with a short piece of writing to help you start. When you get stuck, one button (“make easier”) splits, simplifies, or shrinks the task. When you finish a stretch of work, an AI review looks at what moved and proposes changes you can accept or reject.
What colist is not
- It is not a chat app that happens to output lists.
- It is not a project management tool with a sidebar of “agents.”
- It is not a productivity system that assumes discipline is the missing ingredient.
- It is not autonomous — the AI proposes, you approve.
Who it is for
People who use AI to think — makers, students, founders, researchers, tired parents on a Sunday afternoon — and are tired of the plan dying in the chat. If you have ever gotten a beautiful step-by-step answer from an LLM and then closed the tab, colist is for you.
How it works
- Say the goal. One sentence is enough. “Learn enough Rust to port this script.” “Fix the little things.” “Move.”
- Answer one question, if the AI asks one. Not a form. Not an intake wizard. One question, only when it materially changes the plan.
- Approve the plan. The AI drafts a short, editable plan — five or so steps, not thirty. Edit anything. Approve when it looks right.
- Do the next task. The queue shows one clearly primary task. Tap it, read the short reading, do the thing.
- Make it easier if it is too big. Split, simplify, or shrink. The subtasks become real tasks, not chat messages.
- Run an AI review at the checkpoints. The review proposes changes. You approve, edit, or keep the plan.

Planning is a temporary state. If the app has more planning UI than doing UI, it is the wrong app.

AI output should resolve into a task, a piece of material, a review, or an approved plan change — not another chat bubble to scroll past.

The plan changes only with your consent. This is the difference between a tool and an assistant that quietly rewrites your life.
Small first, then grow.
A short plan you finish is worth ten long plans you abandon. The AI is biased toward the smallest useful next move.

- Defaults to
openrouter/freevia OpenRouter, proxied through a Cloudflare Worker. Model choice is not the wedge — the loop is. - Who made it?

- A mode that hides everything except the current task and its reading, with an optional quiet background sound.

- A single button in focus mode. It asks what is hard and offers one intervention — usually: split the task, shrink it, or explain the material more simply.

- An explicit, user-triggered task that summarizes progress and proposes plan changes for you to approve.
- Where is my data stored?
- Cloudflare D1, scoped to your Clerk user. Any API keys you supply stay in memory, not in storage or URLs.
- Is there a native app?
- The web app runs on mobile browsers. Native iOS and Android builds are in progress.
